Labels
Barcoded Labeling – Why?
In many industries, bar coded products have rapidly gained acceptance. In hospitals and pharmacies, they are indispensable. They serve the control and traceability of products and processes, they simplify the identification and accelerate processes.
Barcode labels can be labeled to almost any surface and also stored under different conditions. You can encrypt information in a barcode and print additional readable information on a label. Even if you cannot yet take advantage of barcodes today, you have paved the way for unmistakable identification of the sample in the future.
There will be unique labeling requirements for all medicines in the future (mandatory from 01.01.2019). In some countries and areas there are requirements to cover the labels with a protective foil. These requirements and many others are covered by the term “serialization”. These measures serve to protect against counterfeiting. The European Commission has issued the legal regulation. The measures are implemented in the individual countries.
Correct selection of the label
The first step in choosing the correct label is dictated by the tube that you want to label. Check how much space you have and then select the appropriate label size. In the second step you decide which barcode you want to print on the label. The barcode 128 is very popular. However, the required information does not always fit the size of the label. You can generate your desired barcode on the Internet at: https://barcode.tec-it.com/de or other barcode generators and check whether it fits on the label and is readable with your scanner. A 2D code is always suitable for small sample vessels.
Labels and printers
As a supplier of automatic labeling systems, the quality of the labels is of particular importance to us. More and more labeling processes are being converted to automated processes, as this enables more precise and faster labeling to be achieved. The requirement criteria for adhesive, backing material and label material, as well as the detachability of the labels from the background, play a decisive role when used in automated systems. Unsuitable face materials, adhesives and backing materials can lead to errors in the automatic application or dispensing of the labels. Each of these label components should always be tested in advance before you put an application and dispensing system into operation.
Environmental and storage conditions
As a third step, check your environmental and storage conditions. Are the labels or tubes exposed to certain chemicals? At what temperatures do you want to store? (-20 ° C, -80 ° C or LN2). Do you have to label samples that have already been refrigerated that you are receiving or ensure the stability of the sample content? You should have answered these questions before choosing a label and ribbon.
In the fourth step, the question remains as to which countries they may deliver to and whether there are certain labeling requirements there. Do you have a sample storage facility and would you like to exchange samples internationally in the future?
Specification of the label material
